In Progress / Up Next
What's coming
- In Progress Testing and database expansion: running the current build through test cycles while expanding the lens and PTZ database with new cameras and updated specifications
- In Progress Lens and camera details at a glance: a new info button on every lens and camera opens a details card with the full specs, such as filter size, weight, dimensions, close focus and connectivity, plus a link to the manufacturer's page. Always free to view, even for lenses you have not unlocked.
- In Progress Always up to date: the app checks for the latest lens and camera information each time you open it, instead of refreshing only periodically, so new and updated entries appear without waiting for an App Store update.

- Live PocketOP version 1.0 launched on the App Store. Everything built during the beta is live from day one: the full broadcast, cine zoom, and PTZ database, two-slot comparison mode, frame dimensions, scout list sharing, and annual Pro subscription. May 2026
- Live The lens and PTZ database now has a searchable web interface at pocketop.app/database.html. Browse all 550+ lenses and 120 PTZ cameras, view full specifications per entry, and filter by resolution or mount type. The database is a continuing work -- new entries and specifications are added regularly. May 2026
- Live The lens database now includes over 500 broadcast, cine zoom, and cine prime lenses across all major manufacturers and mounts, including Canon EF, ARRI, Zeiss, Cooke, Leitz, Sigma, DZOFilm, and more May 2026
- Live Prime lenses now appear below zoom lenses within each manufacturer section in the lens picker. Prime focal lengths display as a single value rather than a redundant range May 2026
- Live Custom lenses now correctly reflect their sensor format in the field-of-view bracket and HUD indicator May 2026
- Live PTZ database expansion: Fomako, Bolin, AVer, and Minrray are now in the PTZ database, adding 33 new cameras across all four brands May 2026
- Live Camera view redesign: PocketOP now shows your full iPhone sensor without letterbox cropping, giving a much better sense of what any lens actually covers from a given position. The control column has moved to the side of the frame, and you can switch between right-handed and left-handed layout depending on how you hold the phone on set Apr 2026
- Live Mount-based lens filtering: the cine lens tab now has a mount filter. Select LPL, PL, EF, or RF to see only the lenses that physically fit your camera. The filter is saved between uses Apr 2026
- Live Scout list lens preview: each entry in the scout list now has a bracket button. Tap it to instantly load that lens into the camera view without going through the picker Apr 2026
- Live Prime lens marking: lenses with a fixed focal length now show a Prime label in the picker across all tabs, and the label is searchable Apr 2026
- Live Minor UI fixes Apr 2026
- Live Sony BRC-AM7 added to PTZ database: the Sony BRC-AM7 PTZ camera is now in the database, available in the PTZ tab Apr 2026
- Live Two-slot comparison mode: load any two lenses simultaneously and see both field-of-view brackets on the live camera feed at the same time, one amber and one blue. Tap the slot 1 lens name to change the main lens; tap slot 2 to add or swap the comparison lens. The eye button hides and shows the comparison bracket without clearing the selection. Useful for quickly checking whether an alternative lens covers the same shot, or for showing a client the difference between two lens choices on location Apr 2026
- Live Remote announcements: the app can now receive announcements pushed directly from us, with no App Store update required. Used for app updates, database additions, and anything time-sensitive. Announcements appear once at launch and are never shown again after dismissal Apr 2026
- Live Frame dimensions overlay: testers asked for a way to check whether a piece of decor, a stage flat, or a set element actually fits in the shot before the truck arrives. Frame Dimensions does exactly that. Enable it, enter the distance to your subject, and the app overlays the physical width, height, and diagonal of the framed area directly on the live camera feed, for both the wide bracket and the tele bracket simultaneously. Tap the Distance label to dim the control out of the way without losing your settings. Annotations are baked into screenshots. Enough testers asked for it that it jumped ahead of the queue and got built over Easter weekend Apr 2026
- Live Prime lens support: custom lenses can now be entered as prime lenses by setting the minimum and maximum focal length to the same value, for example 50mm / 50mm. The overlay shows a single bracket at the fixed field of view. Useful for any fixed-angle lens or ePTZ camera not already in the database Apr 2026
- Live Various UI improvements based on tester feedback Apr 2026
- Live PTZ database update: field of view and focal length data updated for 19 PTZ cameras across Panasonic, Marshall, Datavideo, PTZOptics, and Lumens. All values sourced from official manufacturer datasheets Apr 2026
- Live Marshall CV730 specs: we worked with Marshall Engineering to confirm the field of view for the CV730 series. The database now carries the manufacturer-verified values for both the CV730-BK and CV730-BHN Apr 2026
- Live Broadcast lens database update: specifications reviewed and updated across 13 broadcast lenses. The database now stands at 119 broadcast lenses across Canon, Fujinon, Angénieux, Zeiss, and Nikon Apr 2026
- Live Cine zoom lens support: 114 cine zoom and cine-servo lenses added across three sensor formats: Super 35 (75 lenses), Full Frame (36 lenses), and Large Format (3 lenses). Canon CN-E, Fujinon ZK and XK Cabrio, Angenieux EZ and Optimo, ZEISS, DZOFilm, and others. A new dedicated Cine tab with a built-in sensor format selector filters the list automatically. Productions shooting on ARRI, Sony Venice, RED, or Blackmagic URSA see only the lenses that cover their sensor Apr 2026
- Live Calibration colour coding: lenses now show three visual states depending on their calibration status Apr 2026
- Live Settings cleanup: sensor format removed from Settings. Database section expanded with additional device info Apr 2026
- Live Website link in Settings: Settings now links directly to pocketop.app Apr 2026
- Live Lens picker improvements: cleaner behaviour when browsing and marking gear Apr 2026
- Live Scout list save flow: saving a scout list now always overwrites silently. Each saved list has a Duplicate button for branching. No more overwrite-or-new dialog Apr 2026
- Live Apple mm values on lens buttons: the lens switcher buttons now show Apple's published focal length values (13mm, 24mm, 26mm, and telephoto values per model) instead of calculated approximations Apr 2026
- Live 8x and 10x telephoto support: devices with 8x or 10x telephoto modes now show those buttons in the lens switcher. Tapping them zooms the live preview to match Apr 2026
- Live Default to widest lens on launch: the app now opens on the widest available iPhone lens rather than a middle focal length Apr 2026
- Live Silent OWNED and FAVORITES toggles: marking a lens as owned or a favourite no longer interrupts browsing. A count badge on each section header updates instantly Apr 2026
- Live Lens picker polish: section headers are larger and clearer. Tapping a lens row now gives a brief visual highlight before the picker closes Apr 2026
- Live Brand collapse: hide or collapse lens brands you never use to keep the picker clean Apr 2026
- Live Lenses in the picker are now grouped by brand, which you can collapse and expand with a tap Apr 2026
- Live Owned lenses and PTZ cameras: mark your own gear so it floats to the top of the picker above your favourites Apr 2026
- Live Scout lists now work like a proper file system: save, name, and manage multiple lists per location or job, with overwrite, save-as-new, rename, and starred favourites Apr 2026

- Live Named scout lists: save a list under a custom name, recall it later, sort entries, and mark favourites within the list Apr 2026
- Live Per-item notes in the scout list: add a free-text note to any piece of kit in the list Apr 2026

- Live Favourites: star any lens in the picker to pin it to a dedicated section at the top of the list Mar 2026
- Live Screenshots saved to Camera Roll with an information overlay: lens name, sensor format, and HFOV burned into the image; watermark can be toggled off in Settings Mar 2026
- Live Camera startup speed: cold launch time reduced from ~9 seconds to ~250 milliseconds Mar 2026
- Live Per-lens calibration: each lens remembers its own offset independently Mar 2026
- Live Guided calibration flow: step-by-step walkthrough for dialling in per-lens offsets using a reference target Mar 2026
- Live Tap to focus and expose: tap anywhere on the viewfinder to set focus and exposure to that point; focus ring shown at tap location Mar 2026
- Live Remote database updates: app silently checks for new lens data in the background on launch; no user action needed, no disruption if the fetch fails Mar 2026
- Live Custom lens entry: add a lens by focal length range or by entering HFOV angles directly; custom lenses appear in the lens picker alongside the built-in database Mar 2026
- Live Annual Pro subscription: free tier gives access to four broadcast lenses and one PTZ camera; subscribing unlocks the full database with continuous updates Mar 2026
- Live Settings sheet: change sensor format and extender state from a single panel; overlay responds immediately Mar 2026

- Live FOV overlay brackets: wide-end and tele-end field of view shown simultaneously in amber, with no fill so the subject stays fully visible Mar 2026
- Live Live camera feed shown full-screen in landscape: the phone becomes a viewfinder Mar 2026
